Some of the best of Kashmir according to AIP is:

Srinagar: Best known as the capital, as it holds the gorgeousness of being one of the most beautiful places in Kashmir.

Here you get to take a Shikara ride over the calm Dal Lake also witness the panoramic view of the city right from the top of the Shankaracharya Temple. A stay at the houseboats is one of the most enriching experiences of a Kashmir tour. Not to forget, the Shalimar Gardens that is beautifully represented on the very back of our ten rupees note.

Winters in Kashmir can be quite cold; therefore the months of February to July are the best time to visit Kashmir.

Pahalgam: When you wish to be around clean, pure and unpolluted place think Pahalgam. Here you can see the clearest  of clear, clean water across a very deep valley. It is surrounded by the Liddar Lake along side of the Betaab Valley.  Pahalgam is very famous for the river rafting and snow golf. It is a shopping destination for everything traditional and authentic of Kashmir. Much beautiful than Switzerland!

Gulmarg: Fondly called as the ‘snow paradise of Kashmir’.

This place is a trip to dreamland for all skiers, where skiing can be done at the highest and biggest ropeway that comes around to a total aerial distance of five kilometres, jaw dropping isn’t it?

The ropeway offers view that is hard to describe in words, only can be witnessed by our eyes, from the mountaintop at the height of about 3979 meters above the sea. Here you get to enjoy snowfall even during the summer.

Sonmarg: is not just called ‘Meadow of gold’, the reason is because of its stunning natural beauty. This place is surrounded with snow-covered mountains, the green- fresh pastures, with pony rides Sonmarg is the place for all who want to explore India at its best.

The Holy Amarnath Yatra starts from here with trekking, river rafting are few of the popular adventurous activities that take place here. However, Sonmarg is closed during winters due to the heavy snowfall and the risk of  avalanches.
